What if your child finishes in LAST place?

We all want our children to do well and if possible come in first place and bring home gold.

But that just isn't possible, at least all of the time.

So what if they're stuck some where in the middle?

Or dare I say it... they come in last place.

L...A...S...T. That dreaded four letter word. Is it acceptable?

Of course it is, life throws out last place as often as it does first place, we just have to hope our little ones get to experience gold more often than they do the wooden spoon.

But, when they do get to experience the L word, maybe this little story will help ease the pain.

We played safe and watched the fireworks from our upstairs bedroom window this year,

Dr Seuss never ceases to amaze us.

He was so prolific and created such wonderful characters and engaging stories.

We have a copy of Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories from 1984

(belonging to Britt) and it's still in regular action with our little ones today.

If we need to learn a life lesson or just remind ourselves of some good

old fashioned common sense we catch up with Yertle, Gertrude McFuzz

and Bear and Rabbit in The Big Bragg.

I'm sure education isn't meant to be this much fun!

It does take a lot of effort getting out of the front door, but when at your

It's definitely not in any of the 'good parenting' manuals, but sometimes, when your little monkey
drives you to despair and frustration get's the better of you, a very blatant (not true) bribe roles off the tip of your tongue. Here are a few that we've used, ring any bells?

1: "If you go back to your own bed (it's 3:30am) I'll make you the
world's biggest chocolate cake for breakfast"
2: "You can have every single toy that you've seen advertised on TV,
if we can turn it off and go to the park"
3: "If you stop screaming and kicking and leave the play ground right now
you can wear your Ben 10 costume for the next week, including Saturday's wedding"
4: "You can have hot dogs for every single meal ever, but please just eat one bite of broccoli"
5: "Scooby Doo says he'll visit if you stop fighting me while I'm trying to get you dressed"
6: "You will turn into Batman if you eat all your breakfast"
7: "Stop pestering me and you can go to Disney World Florida after I've finished writing this post"

In our house we have Batman and Tinker Bell.
That tends to change by the hour though.
It won't be long before Spiderman, a cowboy, a viking girl and viking boy make an appearance too.
The dressing up won't last forever so we make the most of it.

Pumpkin Patch at Crockford Bridge Farm

It's pumpkin pickin' time!

Crockford Bridge Farm isn't just home to juicy strawberries, delicious ice cream and a

farm shop over flowing with the usual fresh flavoursome fruit and vegetables.

When it's halloween, the pumpkins are a plenty too, conveniently placed right next

to the children's play area.

We had a lovely relaxed morning of fun and pumpkin choosing after some rich pickings

in the strawberry fields.

Perhaps things will be a little more hectic this weekend when it's the

Spooky Halloween Scavenger Hunt.

Strawberry picking at Crockford Bridge Farm

We loved our Sunday down on the farm.
The lovely sunny autumn day and tranquil atmosphere made our first family
strawberry picking trip a great success.
Crockford Bridge Farm was so easy to get to from West London.
The strawberry fields were so quiet, it was like our own farm.
We parked the stroller at the edge of the field and picked to our hearts content.
Most of the years crop had already been farmed but we found plenty of plump strawberries left.
Oliver and Elsie's verdict was fun, fun, yum, yum.

There's also an ice cream parlour, farm shop, vegetable picking, a garden centre and a simple but fun play area for kids.

Let's talk about new underpants.
Three packets of seven. That's two packets of Ben 10 and one pack of robots.
Total: 21 pairs of very small undergarments.
Do they get put away in the underwear drawer?
No way, that would be crazy wouldn't it?
Or do they all get taken to bed along with a Snowman, a Blue Dog and
lots of small plastic dinosaurs?
Of course they do, because that's totally logical isn't it.
I'm also talking a ruck sack full of sleep buddies, quirky clothes, odds and sods

and colourful trinkets. All in one go.
We're pretty sure this isn't just our little man that does this.
Eccentric bedtime behaviour like this must be going on around the globe every evening.

Grab your cameras!
Large or small, digital or film (yes, it does still exist), and get shooting.
Autumn is an ideal time to capture some magical moments thanks to the lovely
warm light and wonderful tones on trees.
Shooting in the dappled sunlight and shadows under large leaf filled branches
always makes for interesting images.
You most certainly don't need to be a pro, soft focus and funny framing are fine
as long as you capture something meaningful to yourself.
Kids costumes also add an extra level of fun and visual drama.
No shouting 'Say cheese!' just try and keep the images as fun and natural as possible.

It's full of fantastic sea creatures and it will clue the kids up on conservation too.

There's also some great 'Commando' comic artwork on display in the main museum.

3: Hear a 'moo moo' here and a 'baa baa' there. Get up close to nature at Hackney City Farm
and experience farming in the heart of the city.

4: If the outdoors isn't calling this weekend, get the finger paints out instead.
Let your little ones imaginations take a trip on a blank sheet of paper.

5: Get snappin! Wherever you go and whatever you do, capture the fun

When the fantastic family fun falls flat...

When the weekend arrives, we always set out with good intentions
to get to our planned destination and have lots of fun.
Be it visiting a park, playground, museum, party, whatever the weather, we try and make it work.
But sometimes, just sometimes, the day doesn't go your way.
When a thirty minute car journey, that thanks to traffic, takes well over two hours.
When your smart phone Route Planner isn't planning anything.
And the kids are not appreciating the benefits of seat belts and sitting in a car for two hours plus.
Then you finally get to your destination and parking is limited to one hour thirty minutes only
and there isn't any spaces anyway.
And it starts to rain heavily and you forgot the stroller cover.
Then you do see an empty space on the other side of the road and you do an illegal U turn to get it but then it's just being parked in.
So you drive around and around an area you don't know until you finally see an available space...
you turn around to view the space and realise both kids have just fallen asleep. Deep asleep.
So you take it on the chin, and say...
"Arghhhh!".
I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
What was meant to be was another very long journey in the car home...

Cycle Safe

Let's go for a bike ride with the little one onboard.
That's always fun, fun, fun!
But is it?
Why do so many parents cycle without their safety helmet while their little one
is protected?
Always make sure you both wear a helmet.
Helmets save lives.
I speak from experience, my helmet saved my life when i was knocked off my bike by a van.
So please, next time you're out cycling with your child onboard,
think about your own safety too.
Apologies if i'm ranting, but this issue is very close to my heart (and my head).
Long may the cycling fun go on!

Aren't gardens brilliant!
Especially when they happen to be magnificent Royal Gardens attached to an impressive Palace.
Even though it was pouring down with rain our little ones enjoyed:
Strolling through the Privy Garden.
Smelling flowers.
Running away.
Staring at statues.
Lots of fresh air.
Strangely shaped trees.
Running away.
Admiring The Great Vine.
Sitting in pebbles.
Running away.
Scaring birds.
Ponds and waterways (No you cant jump in!)
Running away.

And we didn't even make it into the famous Maze.
We'll save that for another day...

The Gardens are part of Hampton Court Palace and there is an admission fee.

The Leaning Tower of... Big Ben

Quick! Visit the Clock Tower at the Palace of Westminster before it falls over.
Ok, I'm exaggerating, but the tower, more popularly known as Big Ben after its main bell,
has developed a tilt.
So take the family, and check out one of the worlds most famous tourist attractions
and see if the kids can capture a fun photo that shows off the slant.
Want to climb the stairs and see Big Ben?
UK residents can make an appointment through their local member of parliament.

Book Review (by a nearly, almost three year old)

Ask a child to review a book and you get a very honest, non biased,
occasionally growly opinion.
The book in question was the wonderfully illustrated
Captain Flynn and the Pirate Dinosaurs Story Treasure Chest.
Oops! I slipped a 'wonderfully' in there, on this occasion, my opinion doesn't matter a jot,
what does the reviewer think?

It's got mean dinosaurs in it.
It is a bit mean. Not silly.
The dinosaurs come on the second page.
Rarrrr!!!
You don't touch dinosaurs.
He is being a pirate now. They are mean and scary.
It's a bit good.

So there you have it. Rush out and buy a copy today.

Double-decker fun

All aboard!
Who needs expensive funfairs and roller coasters when simply hopping aboard a bright

red London double decker bus sends little ones into yelps of delight.

This is a ride that will bring smiles to every face in the family, and other

passengers too when the kids start babbling on about the incredible sights they are seeing...
"Look! A dog!"
Who'd have thought going to the local Shopping Centre could be such an adventure?
If you travel without a baby buggy try and get the front seats upstairs and take in the fantastic views. Or sit downstairs next to the two buggy spaces and look out of a side window.

It's time we all stopped taking the good old double decker for granted, it's a national icon,
let's try and look at it through the eyes of a three year old.

Ding ding! Tickets please.

When your child chooses what to wear...

Letting your little ones express themselves is a big part of their growing up.

It's also great entertainment for people in the park.

Be it stripes on stripes on stripes, clashing colours and silly hats,

sometimes we have to let go and let their personal style (or no style whatsoever)

out of the wardrobe on to the high street.

And wearing a costume, as most parents can appreciate, becomes everyday wear.

Long may the spectacle continue, just avoid the fashion police.

Do you conker?

It's conker season!

What is conker?

It's a traditional English children's game that was started in 1848 and has been played by the coolest kids since.

First off, you find a horse-chestnut tree and collect some of the nuts you find on the ground.

Drill a hole through one and thread a string through the hole, knotting it at the end.

Now find a friend with a conker, stand across from them while they dangle their conker by the end of their string...

Attack!

You swing your conker at the other conker and try to break it.

The first person to break the others' conker wins.

The best way to win is to have a very hard conker, try soaking it in vinegar or bake it on low heat for 30 minutes.
Be warned, if you drop your conker, the opposing player can shout "stamps" and jump on it.
Shout "no stamps' first and your conker is safe.

Confused?
Don't be. It's actually called conkers.
Just start swinging!

Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Playground

"Yo ho ho! It's off to the pirate ship we go!"
Our little Captain Hook and Tinker Bell had lots of fun at Diana's Memorial Playground
(AKA Peter Pan Playground) in Kensington Gardens this weekend.
Children can climb up, down and sideways, all over the magnificent wooden pirate ship which is the centrepiece of the playground.
Big kids can 'jump ship' into the sandy sea that surrounds the ship and little kids can take control at the ships wheel. Parents can turn pirate and climb onboard too!
But it isn't just the ship that captures the imagination and provides a great play time.
Inspired by the stories of Peter Pan this is a wonderland designed to let your children explore
and let their imaginations run wild while they play and learn.
There are teepees to hide in, a sensory trail to dash around, a sandy beach with a built in crocodile (watch out Captain Hook), a musical area and much more to discover too.
So take it from our intrepid little explorers, and go, go go!

2: Get inspired at an art gallery. The world is full of them. We love Tate Modern.
3: Pose in front of the magnificent Albert Memorial. Don't forget to turn around and marvel at
all the details and craftsmanship that make this one of the worlds most impressive monuments.
4: Climb the stairs (the lift isn't working) at the Rhizotron and Xstrata Treetop Walkway
and admire the green, orange and brown tones of Kew Gardens.
5: Get up close and personal with a reptile at The Tropical Zoo,
you can even hold one if you dare.

Bookworm Wednesday: Maurice Sendak

Oliver meets Max

I guess I'm supposed to be talking about one of his books, but Mr Maurice Sendak is such an interesting character that today's ramble is about him. Thankfully Emma Brockes at the Guardian
met him and gets to grips with this dark, grumpy, complex man for me.
Getting to know the man behind Where the Wild Things Are and Outside Over There
(his personal favourite ) is riveting reading and pretty sad too.
I guess my childhood was far too happy and normal to produce work with such a dark edge.
But that strange and sad upbringing has certainly resulted in some engaging books.
So Mr Sendak, thanks for the many moments of magic you've provided for Oliver, Elsie, Britt and I.
And, if you haven't realised yet, that being a children's illustrator and story teller
is a very worthwhile and honorable art "I'll eat you up!"

So you wanna be a cowboy?

Is it a surprise that Oliver loves to dress up as a cowboy?
Absolutely not, it's in his genes. His Great Grandpa was a cowboy on the range
and his Grandpa was brought up riding a horse too.
Like many other little kids, he has so much fun when he dons his cowboy hat
and turns into 'Woody' from Toy Story.
So if you have a little one, don't hesitate treating them to a stick horse
and cowboy costume.
Truth be told, I have so much fun too.

When you need to carry your baby it's a sling.
When your toddler's bored it's a scary ghost costume.
When your child's tired it's a comfy blanket.

When the sun is shinning it's a sun shade on the stroller.
When it's lunch time in the park and you've forgotten your picnic rug, it's a... can you guess?
When your baby needs changing it's a changing pad.

in front of their house selling homemade cupcakes?
It's such a charming scene to come across in a huge bustling city like London
and it's also a great way for kids to make a little spending money.
Who knows? We may well have bought cupcakes from a future Nigella Lawson.

Three Reasons to visit Kensington Gardens

Welcome to Kensington Gardens!

There are lots of reasons to visit these beautiful gardens. Today we'll take you on a
lovely stroll that features three landmarks worthy of searching out.

Say "Wow!" to "Physical Energy". A magnificent monument that exudes power and the
'I want to ride the horse, please Daddy" factor. Climbing on the base turned out to be exciting enough for Oliver though.

Dip your toes in the Round Pond but make sure they don't get nibbled by the swans and ducks.
Sailing around the water birds will be many model boats that enthusiasts have been bringing here since Victorian times.

March excitedly to the Peter Pan Statue (donated by his author, J M Barrie in 1912).
You'll see Peter standing proudly on a tree trunk, blowing his pipe surrounded by rabbits,
mice, squirrels and delicate winged fairies.

Make sure you bring some bread too, there are ducks to feed in the Sepentine right next to Peter.
Oops, is that four reasons? And I'm just getting started...

Indian Summer with Venus

The sun has got his hat on, hip hip hip hurray!
It was the hottest recorded October day in the UK's history on Saturday
so the parks and beaches were jam packed.
This meant we had to look a little harder for a quiet place to play.
We found it at Chiswick House in the incredibly beautiful and tranquil Rosary garden.
We also met a new acquaintance, Venus, standing atop the Doric column.
Thanks for a lovely morning Venus, long may the Indian Summer continue.

Sandpit Etiquette: Top Tips

Etiquette in a sandpit? Am I joking?
This isn't exactly a boardroom meeting.
No, this is worse.
Negotiating the pitfalls of the sandpit can be very tricky.
So come with Britt, the little ones and I, we're going to play in the sand!

1: Stride confidently to the sandpit and find an area that doesn't immediately encroach on other parents and children. That's the easy bit.
2: Smile warmly at other parents, but be prepared to be totally ignored (especially by nannies and stressed don't-want-to-be-here-dad's ).
3: If you've forgotten your bucket and spade always survey the scene and work out which spare toys belong to the sandpit and are technically 'up for grabs'.
4: If your child smashes another child's sand castle, tell your child firmly, this is not acceptable.

It's so important for mums and dads to have some 'date time'.

To take a break from the little ones and let their hair down.

It benefits the kids too, they get to feel some independence

and have fun running their grandparents ragged.

So we left the little ones with said loved ones and took a short flight

to Barcelona for a long weekend of fun and frolics.

Our hotel was super cool (details to follow) and located in the

heart of this vibrant city where we got a real taste of

the Catalonian capital, literally.

We discovered a lively, atmospheric tapas bar five minutes walk

from our hotel, ok, to be honest, it was recommended

by our charming hotel porter. Gracies Mr Porter!

This gastronomic gem is called Tapas 24 (TapaC24).

A place where the food, the wine and the atmosphere stimulate all the senses.

A place where they plonk down in front of you, crazy-delicious

dish after crazy-delicious dish.

The queue outside was a give away, Tapas24 is a must visit restaurant.

Much fun was had and the conversation only turned to the kids occasionally

when we weren't discussing what dish to devour next.

Little Monkeys Visit London Zoo

"We went to the zoo, zoo, zoo, how about you, you you?"

(sorry, couldn't resist)

Lots of fun was had meeting penguins, giraffes, zebras, hippos, llamas, a gorilla

and lots of other funky creatures. Oliver did run to a play ground every

time he saw one though. So perhaps he's more interested in swinging around

like a monkey than viewing them.

He was also pretty apprehensive viewing the larger animals. Perhaps we

discovered his sensitive side for a couple of hours at least.

And forget tap dancing penguins, we have our very own little 'Happy Feet'.

Elsie was so excited at viewing the penguins, she did a little dance for them.

All in all, it was a pretty crazy day as both of them were running in opposite directions

at every opportunity.

Unfortunately the zoo didn't want to adopt a couple of extra little monkeys

(only joking kids... not)

What to do when you go into labour

We've all seen the movies.
The waters break.
The couple start panicking, running around like headless chickens.
Then dash to the hospital with the bags that were already packed.
That's exactly what to do, right?
Wrong.
There is no right to be honest.
Everyone will have a different experience.
When our midwife confirmed Britt's labour had started,
she advised her to go and have a glass of wine, something to eat and sleep.
There would probably be no baby for another day.
So, when you're expecting a half English baby in New York, there's only one thing to do...

...head to the local English Fish and Chip shop.
Haddock, chips, mushy peas twice, and a pint,
surrounded by memorabilia and posters of Britain's finest.
The meal was also accompanied by a good dollop of HP sauce and contractions every ten minutes.
All this, in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Britt would have the energy she needed for the long labour ahead. And boy, was it long!
Thirty six hours later a baby boy entered the world.
Hello Oliver.
Hello family fun.

Zombie Vampire Ghost Vs Tooth Fairy

It's pretty obvious that we should shield our kids from certain images on TV.
But when are they ready to see scary monsters and evil villains?
Can a three year old watch the vampires on Scooby Doo without having nightmares?
Can they be entertained by Big Baby in Toy Story 3 without being scared silly?
They certainly can, Oliver loves Scooby monsters and evil characters like Hades
in Hercules.
So we certainly got a shock recently when he burst into tears while watching, wait for it...
Peppa Pig!
"Too spooky" he wailed.
It turns out an episode featuring a Tooth Fairy went too far.
The Tooth Fairy is actually a beastly babe who sneaks into your bedroom at night and
is far too spooky for our little chap.
Lesson learned. Kids can be very unpredictable and if we want a good nights sleep,
bed time stories should be about zombies and vampires and we must absolutely
avoid terrifying tooth fairies at all costs.

Chiswick House Dog Show

Family Hanson went to Chiswick House Dog Show yesterday.

Lots of dogs, friendly people, small stalls and lots more dogs.

It was a great opportunity to get our little monkeys

even more comfortable around large hairy canines.

We obviously succeeded as they both managed to run free

and enter a competition enclosure during judging.

Neither were awarded a rosette.

On returning from his new Nursery School, Oliver mentioned his new friend, Ruben.
Ruben's name was mentioned on a few occasions, so one day at nursery,
Britt asked a teacher which little chap was Ruben.
It came as a shock to hear there was no Ruben.
Or any boy with a similar name.
Well, fancy that! Our little Oliver has an imaginary friend.
But he never talks to him or hangs out with him.
Strange, but no big deal.
A few days passed when we arrived home one afternoon and switched on the TV.
An excited Oliver announced "Mummy, look... it's Batman and Ruben!"

Zoo Fun in Stockholm

Yee-Haw! Let's go exploring.

I've mentioned before that Stockholm has so much to offer,
especially for families who like to get out and about and discover new things.

Skansen is no exception. Founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius as the first open air zoo
and museum in Sweden. It can be found on the beautiful tree filled, island of Djurgarden.

The zoo contains a wide selection of Scandinavian animals. You'll come face to face with
brown bear, reindeer, wolf, moose, seal, bison and many more.

Getting up close but not too personal with a brown bear is an incredible experience, they're such large creatures and so full of character.

Make sure you also say 'Hej hej!' to the vibrantly painted, traditional wooden Dala horse.

There's also a children's zoo (not that kids won't love the main zoo) an aquarium and
some old fashioned merry-go-rounds and carousels.

The open air museum brings together original 19th century buildings and farms from all over Sweden. These buildings were painstakingly taken apart and rebuilt at Skansen to provide a unique picture of traditional life.

You'll also meet friendly folk in period costume, yes, it really is like going back in time with other time travelling tourist chums.

All in all, there's so much to discover, and it's out doors in the fresh air, with great views and you'll meet a real bear and a wooden horse and... am I starting to sound like a travel rep?

It's not even October and the Christmas cards and biscuits are already in some shops.
They'd have us buying wrapping paper and lining up to see Santa in July if they could.
Reminds me, we'll need to book the kids in to see him early this year, we couldn't get
into see the Westfield Shopping Centre Santa last year!

Walking in the Steps of The Beatles

When you walk around Chiswick House and Gardens you're not just strolling
around a magnificently restored neo-Palladian villa and meandering though beautiful
historic gardens, you're also treading where the Fab Four trod, and sang.

So while enjoying the gardens that were the birthplace of the English Landscape Movement
and inspired countless other gardens including New York's Central Park,
take a moment and think of John, Paul, George and Ringo as they made pop promo history.

Because Chiswick Gardens lay claim to be the birth place of the music video.
It was in 1966 when The Beatles (tired from a world tour) made two promotional videos
in the Conservatory and around the gardens.

Oliver's and Elsie's: Doff your caps or even throw them in the air.

We visited Hampton Court Palace recently and got to meet an Henry VIII-alike.
It was a wonderfully surreal experience.
You're actually in his home, in all it's Tudor glory, and there he is (sort of), in all his pomp.
Oliver was speechless. Elsie was wide eyed. I was in awe.
And thankfully for Britt, her curtsy was suitably impressive and she left with her head
firmly attached to her shoulders. Relief and smiles all round.

Not wanting to risk the wrath of King Henry, more positive posts and details about
Hampton Court Palace will certainly follow.

Kew Gardens Nature Trail

Happy Monday Morning!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

We hung out with Mother Nature at Kew Gardens and went on a walk.

'A walk' sound dull?

Not when flowers, leaves, branches and sticks are providing the entertainment.

Surprisingly, they delivered more smiles, giggles and interest than any

children's TV programme ever has.

Who'd have thought that shaking leafy branches could be so much fun?

We also said hello to passing peacocks and gawped at giant Jumbo jets as they flew over head,

ok the noisy planes totally blow the countryside vibe

but they certainly impress a three year old boy and his dad.

Back to the nature trail...

After a park bench picnic within the tranquil Japanese Landscape,

our leisurely stroll eventually took us

to the Climbers and Creepers playground.

This is billed as Britain's first interactive botanical play zone.

Their website says "Children between 3-9 years can learn more about plants

and their relationships with animals and people".

Oliver loved it. Elsie slept through it.

So, it turns out Mother Nature is hanging out entertaining (and educating) children

indoors and outdoors in these magnificent gardens.

Shortbread to call home about

I walked in from work to find the coolest shortbread tin
sitting on the kitchen table and couldn't resist writing a quick post
(and nibbling a biscuit).
Discovered by Britt in good old Marks and Sparks.
The tin and the shortbread get a big thumbs up from the kids too.

Rain showers are forecast this weekend, and i'm forecasting
that Oliver & Elsie will be jumping and splashing around in puddles.

Romance at Camp Nou

Heading to Barcelona for a romantic weekend away without kids took a surprising twist recently.
I'm sure my lovely wife had in mind Saturday night at a cosy, candle lit restaurant and a table for two, not sitting amongst 95 thousand passionate football supporters at Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona.
Well, I guess that's why life is so interesting, always throwing up the odd diversion or two.
Who knew that our hotel would have tickets available to watch the best football team on the planet and the world's best player?
Surprising to some, Britt had a wonderful evening too.
I think she was appreciating a different sort of talent on the field to me though.

than the Victoria and Albert Museum in London?
There's every type of shape and form to help inspire him for when we get
back home and he gets to grips with his Playdoh.

A visit may not produce the next Michelangelo but it's jolly good fun.

Do the quiet, stark white walls of a modern art gallery welcome our often noisy, excitable children?

Do our little ones prefer to visit funfairs, parks or an aquarium?

In our experience a decorated skull hanging on a gallery wall can create as much interest and engagement as a colourful fish floating in a tank.

"Mean scary skulls! Monsters! What's that? What's this?"

This is a stimulating, fun adventure that can enthral the kids

(and mum and dad) from one room to the next.

Marching begins at Nybroplan at 11:45am (12:45pm on Sundays)

The guards and band then march across Norrbro Bridge and arrive at the Royal Palace in around thirty minutes.

This mesmorising spectacle takes place each day from the middle of May until September.

Peppa Pig! Peppa Pig! Peppa Pig!

The screaming hoards of fans chanted their heroines name repeatedly.

This wasn't hysterical teens screaming for their beloved boy band, this was more terrifying.
This was toddlers waiting to meet Peppa Pig.

When the doors finally swung open and Peppa and George Pig trotted onto the stage,
the kiddy crowd went crazy.

Ok, I'm exaggerating a little, but the atmosphere got to Oliver so much, he burst into tears.

It was just too overwhelming for him.

Elsie was probably too young to understand the magnitude of this momentous celebrity meet and greet and just smiled warmly.

After much parent shoulder jostling we finally managed to get a now calmer Oliver and Elsie to the front to say hello to Peppa and George.

This was the highlight of a great day out at Peppa Pig World.

A day that also included a flight on Miss Rabbit's Helicopter, a drive in Daddy Pig's Car and a ride on George's Dinosaur.

Fun was also had in George's Spaceship Playzone (indoor play centre) and Mr Potato's playground.

Oliver enjoys piloting Miss Rabbit's Helicopter.

Fun times on George's not so scary pre-historic 'dine-saw'!

We managed to avoid large queues by visiting during the week of school term.

Mother Nature's Toy Shop

While on our summer holiday, fun toys were literally falling from the sky.
Ok a tree, but we still put them to good use.

Stockholm summer holiday

Let me take you back to July.
Destination Sweden.
Welcome to our family holiday in the magnificent calm of the Stockholm Archipelago.

We're here with the usual suspects plus two sets of babysitters, oops, I mean, grandparents.

Our holiday home is Lerviksudde. A traditional (but very cool) cottage with large panoramic windows that give a 180 degree sea view that makes sitting indoors admiring the sea view feel like you're…er, sitting outdoors admiring the sea view.

When not hanging out in this feel good space, family Hanson will be enjoying as many archipelago-adventures that we can fit into two weeks.
